This weekend was the spring homecoming in Starkville, Super Bulldawg Weekend. There's an arts festival, spring football scrimmage, and baseball. I always love coming back to Starkville. The campus gets more gorgeous each time I visit. The old buildings have charm, but the new buildings make it look like a first class university, which it is! Rob's family always has a booth at the Cotton District Arts Festival and his step-mom helps them out. So it was a McIntyre kind of weekend. The kids didn't sleep too well; they went to bed pretty late both nights, but it wasn't too bad. Layne had a good time seeing campus and going to the spring football scrimmage and baseball game. I think Piper just wanted to sleep. Without us being at home or somewhere she could lie down, she didn't take great naps. She was a trooper though. Since I don't have football tickets anymore and Angie and Alan have moved, it's hard to get back to this city that I love. Not only was I born there, but Rob and I met there. Most of our dating relationship took place in Starkville. How cool is it to show off our favorite spots and how things have changed to our kids? And of course, I hope they go to school there and become real Bulldawgs. Sunday morning we got to play at a park while we waited for the baseball game to start. The park was really cool. It had a good area to climb and slide. It also had a music trail that had weather resistant xylophones. Totally cool! Layne wasn't so much into making music.

Layne has started paying baseball! His first game was supposed to be last Saturday, but it got rained out shoe started on Tuesday. He has about 12 kids on his team. They play two inning games where each kid gets to bat and go around the bases as the others hit, and they line up out in the field and take turns getting the batted balls. So I guess the score would be about even if we were keeping score. He just looks so darn cute in his baseball uniform!
We have had a good time hanging out with friends. This is April and Hope, my great friend's girls. We headed out to the park for a pizza supper and then let the kids play. Piper had a good time watching and chowing down on some celery. I think it felt great on her gums. She has four little teeth now, two on top and two on bottom. She pulls up on everything and crawls so fast! I thought she would be walking by now, but it looks like it will be a bit longer. I am still nursing and pumping at school, and she more and more becoming a fan of real food. Today she ate a good helping of lima beans. But don't put any Puffs in your line of vision! That's all she will eat!
In the very near future our family will be gaining a new member! My cousin Ellis is marrying this gem! Kristin has been around for a while and we can't wait for her to officially join the family. We went to a shower hosted by her church this Saturday. Mimi said the "b word" so she had to wear the black veil. We had a great time celebrating and we can't wait until May 17!

IAnd fun we have had! Life with two kids is a whirlwind! Everyday they get bigger, anda everyday I ask them to stop! Layne spouts off letter sounds to me at the drop of a hat, and he is honing his skills as a baseball player now. His first game is Saturday. I'm sure it's going to be a mess, but it will be fun! Piper is almost to the point of standing independently, and then she'll be off in no time walking! She has three teeth and about to cut a fourth.

Layne went to his first skating party this weekend. Note to parents of first time skaters: get them to tighten the wheels and then they won't fall. Layne wasn't so excited at first, but he ended up having a great time.
Piper had her 4 month appointment on Friday. She did great when she got her shots. She barely cried at all. She basically slept for the next two days. By Sunday she was back to her normal self. I enjoyed the extra snuggle time, though.
On top of Piper being out of sorts, Layne had a bad cold and got sick several times because of it. He's staying home today because he had a temp yesterday.
Here's to a good day for all because this momma doesn't want to leave her babies!

We spent Labor Day at my grandparents' house in Oxford. They had never met Piper, so this was a special visit. Poppy ended up sick by the end of the weekend, and Granny had fallen the week before. Needless to say, they are not in the best health. I know they enjoyed spending time with the kids, but I'm sure they are glad we are all gone so they can relax. Kathy and the kids came, too. I can't really say that anymore with Leah being 18 and a mom herself, and Daniel being 16. We had a good time, though. I love going to Oxford because all we do is lie around watching tv and eating. And eat we did! As one of my teacher friends reminded me, there are 59 days until the next school holiday! Help! :)

Layne loves baseball! Grandpa got him a great birthday present - flex tickets to the MS Braves! We could go whenever we wanted, and it has been awesome! Sunday was our last trip to Trustmark Park for the season. We need to go on Sundays from now on! They let the kids run the bases after the game and Layne LOVED it! GranNe got to go with us and we had a great time!
Layne has turned out to be a great big brother! I knew he would be! He loves Piper with all his heart! He loves holding her and kissing her and hugging her. Sometimes we have to remind him to be gentle. I can't wait to see what they will be like together when they grow up!
Not so close, brother!
